18th Skopje Film Festival starts on April 17

The opening ceremony of the 18th Skopje Film Festival will be held on April 17 (Friday) with the world premiere of the film “Honey Night” directed by Ivo Trajkov.



Audience of the Skopje Film Festival will be able to see over 60 films from the latest production of world, European and Macedonian cinematography during the eight day festival which lasts until April 24.

This year’s festival selection besides main programme also includes world films, author films, documentaries, short films and programme of animated movies. The novelty of this year’s edition is the programme of horror films titled “More Than Horror” that will feature four films.


The film “Taxi” by famous Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi that won Berlinale Golden Bear, “Citizenfour” film that won the Oscar 2015 for documentary feature as well as “Forbidden Room” (2015) by Guy Maddin will be screened.

The young Macedonian acting star, Natasha Petrovic will appear in one of the roles in the premiere of German-Australian co-production “Elixir”, directed by Brody Higgs. The author films programme features the latest work of Francois Ozon, the festival audience favourite “A New Friend.”

Several workshops and master classes are also part of the programme of Skopje Film Festival (www.skopjefilmfestival.com.mk), which will take place in Cinema Millennium and the Cinematheque of Macedonia
