The Macedonian pianist with concert in New York

The pianist Dunja Ivanova tomorrow will hold a concert at the Macedonian Cultural Center (Gallery MC) in New York with works of the contemporary composer Ludovico Einaudi and Philip Glass, which for the first time were performed at the solo concert of this year’s Skopje Summer.

Ivanova’s tour of New York is part of the Program for 2013 of the Ministry of Culture.

- New York City is with no doubt the city where the things are silent at any moment. I am inspired by different experiences, these days before the concert. With warm excitement I wait for 3rd of October when in the Gallery MC in Manhattan I will get the chance to donate part of me to this freewheeling city. Einaudi and Glass are popular authors for this part, so I expect that the audience will be able to enjoy in my interpretation, said Ivanova.

Dunja Ivanova (Skopje, 1985) has a Masters from the Piano Department at the School of Music and the Department of Aesthetics at the Faculty of Philosophy, where she is currently doing her PhD. Since 2007, she works as a piano teacher at Ballet School “Ilija Nikolovski – Luj.”

She has performed in Paris, Ragusa in Sicily, the Sarajevo Winter, and at domestic events Ohrid Summer Festival, Viva Music, Days of Macedonian Music, Skopje Summer and many others. She is author of the book “The aesthetic experience of music” (2010).
