Detroit DJ Derick May and Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra Offer a Unique Musical Spectacle in Ohrid

DJ Derrick May, one of the pioneers of the Detroit techno scene, is joining the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra Saturday for an unforgettable musical performance dubbed "Musica Universalis" in the Antique Theater in Ohrid.

At the concert, music which is a blend of old and new styles will be performed by the symphonic orchestra, accompanied by lighting effects, audiovisual support and one-of-a-kind costumes.

The event, organized by "Izlet Music" productions, is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture. The Macedonian musician Emin Dzijan is in charge of arranging May’s music while film director Igor Ivanov – Izi is set to visually design the concert.

May’s first performance in Macedonia was in 2000. He has visited the country many times since then.

"Musica Universalis" will be released on CD and DVD together with a short documentary about the archeological sites in Macedonia. The concert is part of festivities marking the 70th anniversary of the Macedonian Philharmonic Orchestra.
